Johanna was chosen from a shortlist of four following an extensive selection process, culminating in a vote of local party members on Tuesday 4th November.
Speaking after the vote, Jo said:
“I am delighted to have been selected as the Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Bury St Edmunds this evening. I have had a terrific time these last few weeks meeting many wonderful people and look forward to meeting many more over the weeks and months ahead as I get to better understand the issues of concern affecting everyone in this Constituency. Throughout the selection process I have enjoyed the support of my husband and family, I know they will be excited with my success and will look forward to moving home to the Constituency as soon as is practically possible.”
Andrew Speed, Association Chairman added: “I am delighted that Jo Churchill has been chosen from what was a very strong shortlist. I know that she will make an excellent candidate and dedicated MP for the constituency. The hard work really starts here as we fight to secure a Conservative majority in next year’s local and general elections."
