Jo Churchill has announced her decision to step down as the Conservative candidate at the forthcoming General Election, having represented Bury St Edmunds in Parliament for nine years. 

Commenting on her decision, Jo said:

"I informed the Prime Minister recently of my decision to stand down at the next election. It has been a privilege & honour to serve the people of Bury St Edmunds & Stowmarket.

I wish my successor all the best in representing this most wonderful part of our United Kingdom."
